Appearance

The Joker is very pale, with sheet-white skin, and dark, shiny greenish pilus slicked back over the height of his caput, with the rest fading into a lighter dark-green on his temple and the dorsum of his head. He has vivid ruddy lips that resemble lipstick, yellow teeth, blackness eyebrows, and deep purple fingernails. The Joker is often seen wearing a royal suit, with a collared green shirt and purple tie. He spoke to Harley then and claimed that she was the missing piece to his happiness, which she pretended to believe, and equally they both came in for a kiss, they stabbed each other.

Neither of them beingness particularly surprised, they both dug the knives in deeper, and the Joker head-butted her away. They then began to fight, and although Harley scored him thrice more than with a pocketknife, he managed to distract her with the acid from his flower and then sucker punch her, winning the fight. He so claimed that he was existence entirely true before, that she was his final weakness that he needed to remove. Harley then begged for death, but the Joker had another idea. He refused and instead had her taken away by a couple of his goons.

At terminal, the Joker brought Harley once again before a vat of chemicals, these chemicals intended to wipe away her memory and leave her equally a "nobody. A bare canvass. A stranger on the streets. Normal". He held her to arraign for "making me fall in love with you", and assured her that she wouldn't remember a thing. Nonetheless, Harley suddenly requested that she leap on her own, which the Joker found amusing and hands allowed, to his regret. He walked abroad later she jumped, but neither he nor his bodyguards heard any splash, at which point Harley and Poison Ivy rose to a higher place the catwalk. He immediately regretted not harpooning Ivy in the caput and tried to flee after Ivy dispatched his bodyguards, but Ivy's vines were too fast, and he was captured. Although he tried to talk his mode out, Ivy forced him to endure Harley's gloating so dropped him into the chemicals.

Not to be outdone, however, he emerged from the chemicals and tried to escape the vat, but finding that impossible, he remotely detonated his tower just before he went under for the final time. This caused his tower and most of Gotham City to self-destruct, however, the Joker did not dice as a result. After his belfry fell into ruin, he reached his arm out from the rubble, laughing maniacally, just his express joy turned into a normal one, and his skin turned from pure white to a normal Caucasian tone, as the chemicals finally took effect and made him normal once again.

"All the Best Inmates Have Daddy Issues"

Months later Harley and Ivy find him working at Noonan's Bar with no memory of his past as the clown prince of offense. They debate whether to kill him or not, unsure if he's really changed or just pretending. To prove a signal about people's ability to change, Harley recount some of their past at Arkham. When they are unable to make up one's mind they accept Physician Psycho read his mind to run across if he had truly forgotten, when it was confirmed they left; yet, when he saw a funny movie of his new girlfriend's kids on his telephone, he starts to laugh maniacally hinting that he is relapsing.

The Joker eventually managed to get a task at the high-cease bar in Wayne Tower, where he one time once again bumped into Harley Quinn. He strikes upwards a conversation with her, dismissing her idea that he's hitting on her because he is already in love with his girlfriend until they are both interrupted by a heist crew come up to kidnap everyone. Panicking, he suggested giving upwards, and was shocked that Harley would just try to leave. Yet, when she is captured, the crew handcuffed her to him. He's fixated with her, as he had a dream after coming together her in "All the All-time Inmates Take Daddy Bug", a dream that they were both on a yacht with bankers. He was conflicted as it felt similar a past life, but was confident that him and her beingness a couple in the dream could non have happened considering her white skin freaks him out.

❝ You go daughter! Having a good vent in a literal vent! ❞

— Joker

Harley dragged him along to the leave, using him every bit a human flail to incapacitate a guard who she then kicked to death. Disturbed, the Joker asked her if she wanted to talk well-nigh it while they crawled through a vent. Although hesitant, she eventually acquiesced, telling him most confessing her dear for Ivy and beingness turned down with the Joker supporting her (fifty-fifty her hatred of the Joker, since he had his memory wiped). However, when they came before the Riddler, he nearly recognized him as the Joker. Shortly later, they stumbled upon two guards. One ran away after being given cancer while the other stunned Harley, allowing him to close on the Joker. The Joker begged for mercy as the terminal goon began choking him, so the Joker instinctively grabbed a pencil and stabbed the goon to death. The Joker institute this absolutely hilarious, and his old laughter and personality began bubbles to the surface until Harley smacked him dorsum into sanity. Afterwards riding in the elevator, the Joker was promptly tackled by Jim Gordon, with the Joker in one case over again resurfacing and recognizing him as "Gordo".

Gordon tossed the Joker in the Batplane, once again snapping the Joker back to sanity, whereupon he began complaining about his fear of minor spaces. As he watched Doctor Psycho reveal his betrayal and summon Harley's sometime army of Parademons, he panicked and implored her to phone call for Ivy'southward help, just Harley refused. When the Parademons attacked, he tried to control the Batplane to escape, merely accidentally shocked himself unconscious.

When he awoke, he recalled that the Justice League was in Queen of Fables' book, and that he had it, simply not exactly where. Harley took him to Ace Chemicals to restore his retentivity, and although he offered her shelter with Bethany'due south family, she knew she had to set the situation and couldn't run from it anymore. She tried to become him to retrieve, but when he could not, she tossed him into the vat of acrid to restore his memories.

"A Fight Worth Fighting For"

The Joker emerged from the vat of acrid in hysterical laughter until Harley slapped him out of information technology, demanding to know where the Book of Fables is located. At kickoff indignant, he suddenly began remembering his time of normalcy, from when Bethany pulled him out of the ruins of his tower, to falling in dearest with her equally she nursed him back to health, to ingratiating himself with her kids past giving them a puppy, to her defending him from an angry driver, and finally coming to love her family every bit his own.

Snapping dorsum to the present, the Joker was appalled at what he became. He refused to help her until she revealed the bomb in his caput, so he consented. At Bethany'due south house, he explained everything to Bethany, and although she didn't initially believe, he proved his knowledge of her family. She wanted to know if anything they had was existent, and although the Joker did enjoy his time with her, he harshly rebukes her, saying, "I'grand the fucking Joker! I mean, come up on! I mean, seriously." Angry, Bethany threw the book over their heads - into the waiting easily of a Parademon.

While searching for the book, Harley blamed him for their predicament of mistreating his girlfriend. This gets the Joker to thinking about his relationship, how much he actually enjoyed it, that it was the virtually fulfilling relationship of his life. Harley insulted him, and then he fired back that he couldn't believe she was ever a therapist and that he wasn't sentimental with her because she came to him when he was a supervillain - Bethany came to him when he was no one. Continuing to needle Harley, he says she "biffed" her relationship with Ivy, making her angry.

❝ Bethany and I used to cuddle but like that. God, we could just sit on the burrow and talk about cipher for hours. We just got each other. She e'er had my back. … Good God! That'southward truthful honey. ❞

Joker fights the Parademons

They eventually come upon the book beside two cuddling Parademons, causing him to ruminate on how he and Bethany once cuddled. In response, Harley insists that he not requite up on Bethany, that he try to restore their relationship. As he considered this, i of the Parademons suddenly belched forth a bunch of acid that melted the face off the Parademon he was cuddling, prompting Joker to say "that is foul". Equally they prepared to leave, a bunch of Parademons saw them, so the Joker ran to a dead end and and then turned to fight them off with a crowbar. Together they slew dozens of them, only began to tire out. Luckily, they were saved by the arrival of Batman, who captured them both.

Batman assumed them to be working together and for Doctor Psycho, so the Joker insulted Batman's detective skills for the error. Harley explained their true intent to Batman, but the Joker suddenly realized they had the wrong book from Bethany's house. They had to go back, and the Joker had to explicate his relationship to Batman forth the mode, too revealing Harley'due south bungled relationship with Poison Ivy in the process.

I thought I had information technology all. But, now, I realize… I was missing something. Love is what makes life worth living.

And then, Joker went through some changes over the last few months.

After the Joker made up with Bethany, they all went within to see Zatanna Zatara free the Justice League. Subsequently they departed, Harley asked the Joker if this would exist his new life now. He denied it, saying he now simply has a better reason to kill and be a psychotic maniac: honey. He urges her to find her own love, and although she insists that Ivy said no, he demands to know if she's prepared to live with that simply she claimed to be prepared for anything.

"Lovers' Quarrel"

"She's nevertheless limber."

Subsequently Ivy arrived and immediately began trying to kill Harley, the Joker was bemused but did not get involved, instead of lounging about and asking Bethany if she wanted Thai food or Italian. Afterward that night, when he saw Md Psycho'due south projection in the air of Ivy's adultery with Harley, he laughed and commented that Harley was "still limber".

Equally with other iterations of the Joker, the Joker in Harley Quinn talks about the horrible things he does with a blasé demeanor, treats violence as a joke, manipulates Harley, is incredibly prideful, treats his own minions like they're dispensable (if he doesn't outright kill them himself for petty reasons), is unpredictably violent, bullies his ain colleagues, and shows no remorse for anything he does. In "The Final Joke", both Batman and Harley describe him as a "sociopathic narcissist" with a chemical imbalance in his parasympathetic nervous system. His pride frequently leads him to endeavor to sabotage Harley Quinn, unable to accept her agency or independence and leads him to ruthlessly beguile her afterwards deceiving her into thinking that she had regained his affections.

❝ Look, lots of dads are serial killers. I'grand not gonna change who I am, I just got a better reason to kill; I am in honey! ❞

Despite all this, Joker admitted that he really did love Harley but due to his conventionalities that love was a weakness, he wanted to become rid of her. Realizing that killing her would make her a painful memory that would injure him for the residuum of his life, he settled for trying to brand Harley forget who she was instead. Afterward having his own memory erased, Joker's view on love changed dramatically when he fell in love with Bethany. Spending six months as a "loser stepdad" softened him and even once he regained his memory, he decided that his relationship with Bethany could be a great thing. However, he also told Harley that he still intended to exist a serial killer, except now his motivation to continue killing was that he was in love. He had also seemingly changed his view on Harley, no longer feeling the need to dispose of her and fifty-fifty encouraging her to seek out her ain love with Poison Ivy.
